Algarve has only 12% of population vaccinated

Dr Photo - ALGARVE HAS ONLY 12% OF POPULATION VACCINATEDAfter reports that the Covid-19 vaccination process in the Algarve is to be ramped up, according to the weekly vaccination report released by the Directorate-General for Health (DGS), the story for Portugal looks promising, however the Algarve region is still lagging behind.

Current data from the DGS shows 1,437,436 Portuguese people now fully vaccinated against the SARS-CoV-2 virus and 3,223,964 having already received the first dose, which means 32% of the Portuguese population have now been vaccinated with at least one dose.

The data also indicate that, in the age group over 80, 89% (598,852 elderly people) have already received the two doses of the vaccine and 95% (642,013) have already been vaccinated with the first dose.

As for the age group between 65 and 79 years, 89% (1,429,900 people) have also been vaccinated with the first dose, while 23% (361,651) have complete vaccination against Covid-19.

With regard to people between 50 and 64 years old, 33% (717,587) have also received their first vaccine intake, a percentage that drops to 10% (212,076) with regard to complete vaccination.

By regions, the North and Lisbon and the Tagus Valley have already exceeded 1.5 million doses administered, followed by Centro (897.494 doses), Alentejo (267.299), Algarve (176.298), Madeira (122.216) and the Azores (92,389).

The vaccination coverage of the population by regions is as follows. The Alentejo leads the way in complete vaccination (19%), while the Center has 18% of the vaccinated population, the North, Lisbon and Vale do Tejo and Madeira 13%, the Algarve 12% and the Azores 11%.

According to DGS, Portugal received 5,197,920 vaccines, having been distributed to the vaccination posts and the autonomous regions of the Azores and Madeira 4,686,071 doses.

Since 13th May, self-scheduling for the Covid-19 vaccine is now available to all people over 55 years of age, a possibility that the task force that coordinates the vaccination logistics has attributed to the good, steady pace of inoculations that have been registered in recent weeks.

In Portugal, 17,011 people have died from 842,767 confirmed cases of infection, according to the most recent bulletin from the Directorate-General for Health.

Maybe people are reluctant to take an experimental treatment created by companies with criminal records, which are producing huge numbers of adverse reactions. The US VAERS system has had more deaths reported following vaccination so far this year than in the total of the previous 19 years added together. The mainstream media remains silent on all that.

Disgraceful, given the number of tourists now arriving. Albufeira is already on the edge of having privileges revoked. We know of people who have started pulling out of ex pat scheduled events in Tavira, Quarteira, Vilamoura and Albufeira due to concerns about the lack of mask wearing, social distancing and hygiene provisions now being seen in cafes and restaurants.
