What AI Looks Like in Education – The New Trend

Artificial intelligence in educationWhile the amount of screen time appropriate for learners and educators continues to fuel phenomenal controversy, Artificial Intelligence is continually changing what the future of education might look like. Its most important and far-reaching impact is AI’s potential to revolutionize the way teachers and students learn to maximize their potential.

In a Portugal AI strategy report, the Government has rolled out strategies to overcome the challenges and capitalize on opportunities of the growing AI ecosystem in the coming years. The plans encapsulate actions on inclusions, academic qualification, research and specialization as the main engine for successful deployment.

It is expected that AI in education will grow by over 48% from 2017 through 2021 in developing skills and testing systems. Although providing adaptability and understandability would make the machines struggle, leveraging the system’s best attributes will work for the best outcome for students.

Task Automation

Artificial Intelligence simplifies routine administrative tasks like grading, assessing and replying to students in what would have otherwise been a tedious activity. In what resembles Gmail’s message recommendations based on the overview of your past conversations, AI automates tasks in any management system by envisaging feedback.

“Even though industry players believe that the presence of teachers is irreplaceable, its significance is epitomized by how it allows schools and teachers to achieve more than ever before,” says the advisor for the platform Educalink. “Given that global AI market stats in academia is projected to hit $5.80 billion by 2025, collaboration with the technology will widen the industry’s qualification programs in related areas.”

In broad terms, AI in academia encapsulates creating machines that can enhance human perception, learning and reasoning. Although comprehensive task automation entails exceeding the full range of human recognition, Portugal is close to achieving these prospects in its entirety.

Helping Students with Special Needs Access Education

The adoption and full implementation of AI technologies will scale new possibilities for students with learning disabilities. At a glance, inclusive education in Portugal is built on three pillars – access, participation and achievement of equal education regardless of the learner’s personal and social situation.

First implemented in 2018, the latest reforms in Portugal academia entail pushing to develop inclusive institutions that find responses to potential, expectation, needs, and contribute to social inclusion. This entails granting access to education for the deaf, visually impaired, students with ASD by training AI tools. Once all learners are included in the program, the implications for future curriculum development will infinitely be colossal.

From Class to The Market

Supporting AI tools and services from transforming learner experience to the market will enhance the knowledge-intensive entrepreneurial ecosystem on Artificial Intelligence. In the context of a severe social and economic crisis fueled by the growth in the number of graduates, there is a significant deal of concern that AI will lead to massive job losses in Portugal. At the same time, concerns on the risks of unethical use of AI have triggered policymakers to provide an ethical and political framework to mitigate the real risks of such derailments.

However, AI has outperformed humans in many ways by breaking the bottleneck of redundancy and inefficiency. A report shows that over 7 million jobs will be lost between 2017 and 2037, but the demand for man-machine hybrid teams will create over 7.2 million jobs. AI’s role in marketing and sales will help companies in Portugal scale up by creating businesses that effectively generate money for their companies.
