Loule fire is in conclusion after “a very long night” for Bombeiros

Dr Photo - LOULE FIRE IS IN CONCLUSION AFTER “A VERY LONG NIGHT” FOR BOMBEIROSThe Municipal Fire Department of Loulé, in the district of Faro, forecasted “a very long night” of aftermath work last night, after a fire broke out in an area of ​​difficult access yesterday afternoon, in the parish of São Clemente.

The fire ploughed through terrain that is difficult to access, with many large rocks, making the positioning of land resources very difficult. “The work is being done, everything is going well. The fire is under control, it has given in to the means and now it is foreseen a very long night of consolidation and aftermath” said the commander of the Algarve corporation, Irlandino Santos, speaking late last night.

In total, according to Irlandino Santos, there were 232 operational, supported by 84 vehicles, four crawler machines and eight aerial resources.

Asked if the 53 people who left their homes as a precaution had already returned, the leader of the Municipal Fire Department of Loulé, said that the area was already in a safe condition for them to have returned home by 22:30 last night. 

The fire alert was given at 13:46 yesterday, by 18:30, the fire had two active fronts, according to the CDOS, and 53 people from 30 houses had left their homes, in the areas of Apra (three houses), Amendoeira (25) and Pedragosa (two), but the fire was deemed under control at 19:35, a source from the Faro District Command for Relief Operations (CDOS) told the Lusa agency.

As of 13:00 today, there are still 108 personnel and 35 appliances in attendance, but the fire is now said to be in conclusion.
