Costa stresses importance of individual Covid protection measures

COSTA STRESSES IMPORTANCE OF INDIVIDUAL COVID PROTECTION MEASURESThe Prime Minister, Antonio Costa, praised the population's adherence to vaccination, noting that Portugal is one of the countries in the world with the highest immunisation rate, but stressed that the rules for individual protection against Covid-19 must be maintained.

His comments were published by António Costa on his official Twitter account, at the end of the Infarmed meeting in Lisbon, on the evolution of the epidemiological situation in Portugal, which was also attended by the head of State, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, the President of the Assembly of the Republic, Ferro Rodrigues, as well as representatives of parties with parliamentary representation.

According to the PM at the meeting on the epidemiological situation in Portugal, “a clear message remains”.

“It's up to each one of us to maintain the protection rules so that we can continue to beat the virus”, wrote António Costa.

The Prime Minister then gave praises, especially to health professionals in the fight against Covid-19. “The strong adhesion of the population, the commitment of health professionals and an effective implementation of the vaccination strategy make Portugal one of the countries in the world with the highest rate of vaccination against Covid-19”, he said.

Next week, in the Council of Ministers, the Government will announce the lifting of several restrictions and the new framework of measures that will be in force in view of the new vaccination rate existing in Portugal and the downward trajectory in the incidence and transmission of Covid-19 in Portugal.

If so many people are vaccinated, why keep the restrictions?

Because those who are not vaccinated will get far worse symptoms and it is unfair to expect the rest of us to pay for hospitalisation for the self-inflicted.

....................

... because winter is approaching and the Medical profession are worried that the hospitals will not be able to cope with the usual health problems of the season and a new covid variant, if it appeared.
