The Algarve railway line between Vila Real de Santo António and Faro was closed at around 3.30pm yesterday afternoon due to the derailment of a train near Quinta do Marim, in the municipality of Olhão.
According to Portuguese newspaper Correio da Manhã, "the derailment of two 'carriages' caused only material damage. There were no injuries caused to the 30 people inside the train."
According to a source from Infraestruturas de Portugal, at 08:22 this morning, "after the repair of the track in the derailment area, train circulation was re-established."
The same source told journalists that a speed limit of 30 km/hour is in place for crossing that location (between kilometres 352.9 and 353.3 of the line).
