As has been the case in recent years, the municipality of Portimão has this year once again made several of the the city centre streets exempt from parking charges during the festive season, from this Monday, December 6th, until January 6th of 2022.
The measure aims to provide easier access to local businesses for citizens and visitors to carry out their Christmas shopping.
The following controlled parking areas that will be free during this period are:
- Rua de Olivença/Rua dos Bombeiros Voluntários de Portimão;
- Avenida São João de Deus;
- Rua Dr. Francisco Sá Carneiro;
- Rua Vicente Vaz das Vacas;
- Rua da Hortinha;
- Rua Mouzinho de Albuquerque;
- Rua França Borges;
- Rua Diogo Gonçalves;
- Travessa de Olivença;
- Rua José António Marques;
- Avenida Zeca Afonso;
- Largo 1.º de Dezembro;
- Rua Serpa Pinto.
It is also free to park in the large car park at Largo do Dique.
According to the municipality of Portimão, it will be up to the parking inspection agents of EMARP (Municipal Water and Waste Company) to monitor this procedure, which aims to stimulate local commerce at a time when a State of calamity has come back in force due to COVID-19.
