The impact of the war in Ukraine is reflected in the increase in the price of oil, meaning fuel prices are predicted to incur a drastic rise next week, to 8 cents on gasoline and 7 cents on diesel.
If confirmed, it will be the 10th increase already this year and the one that will have the most significant impact on the Portuguese, who are already struggling to survive on a meagre minumum wage.
Forecasts point to an increase of 8 cents on gasoline and 7 cents on diesel. This means that the average price of gasoline would be close to €2 per litre, possibly over €2 in some areas.
The upward trend washas been accentuated because of the Ukraine war and the consequent increase in the price of oil on international markets.
The price of a barrel of Brent crude oil for May delivery continues to rise, rising 3.48% at the opening of the London Futures Market to $116.8 (approx €107), a new high since August 2013.
