Young boxing athletes, Ruben Andrade and Gabriel Afonso from Ginásio Clube Tavira, both beat off opponents to win gold in the Silver Glove Tournament at the weekend, in Sintra.
The Silver Glove Tournament, open to all levels of boxer, was organised by the Lisbon Boxing Association. Ruben competed in the Junior 57 kg category and Gabriel as Junior 63 kg.
The Ginásio Clube de Tavira, an institution founded on October 19th, 1928, has a long history of connection to sport and the city of Tavira, of which it is one of the main ambassadors.
Currently, the club has several sporting activities open to young people who enjoy sport, with particular emphasis on youth football.
