A plane travelling from the UK to Morocco made an emergency landing yesterday at Faro airport, after the pilot felt unwell and required medical assistance.
The rescue teams received the alert at 10:22 Sunday morning, with 61 emergency crew and 28 vehicles dispatched to the emergency. The plane “landed safely and the pilot was assisted and transported to the hospital in Faro”.
"It was a red alert for Faro airport, the airport's intervention plan was activated, due to sudden indisposition of the pilot due to illness", explained a source from the District Relief Operations Command (CDOS) of Faro.
The same source explained that the flight in question “originated in Luton, in the United Kingdom, destined for Agadir, in Morocco”.
No further crew or passengers were in need of assistance.
