Easter tourism is already exceeding 2019's figures

EASTER TOURISM IS ALREADY EXCEEDING 2019'S FIGURESThe Algarve hotel industry have high expectations for Easter, with figures already slightly exceeding those of 2019. Could this be the best summer ever in the Algarve?

Expectations are that more tourists will visit the Algarve this Easter than in 2019, made up of Portuguese, English and Spanish tousists, in that order, potentially making 2022 the best tourist Easter ever.

As for the summer, “there is an expectation of an increase in occupations of 3% compared to the summer of 2019”, this slight increase may indicate that the Algarve could surpass 2019, which was the best tourism year ever.

The president of the Association of Hotels and Tourist Enterprises of the Algarve (AHETA), Hélder Martins , also confirmed that in the survey carried out with its members, “the level of reservations for Easter is 63% (+1%), roughly the same as verified in 2019″. The average expected stay is 3.9 nights and, at the moment, “about 50% of reservations are from Portuguese, followed by reservations from the United Kingdom and Spain”.

As yet, “there is still no record of the impact of inflation on the increase in prices for accommodation, nor on a drop in reservations” said the AHETA president.

The Algarve region may be busy this Easter, however, by now, at this time of year, the region is usually full of tourists, but “the Algarve is far from full at Easter”, it has a “large amount of accommodation availability” for the period from 15th to 17th of April that can still be used.

“Easter occupation levels are expected to be slightly above 2019, but we still have a great capacity to welcome those who want to come here”, Hélder Martins stressed.
