Low temperature 'yellow warning' extended until Thursday

LOW TEMPERATURE 'YELLOW WARNING' EXTENDED UNTIL THURSDAYAlthough maximum air temperatures will increase gradually this week, we continue with the very low minimum temperatures for the next few days, especially in the centre and northern regions, but also in the south.

Around 68 IPMA’s on-line weather stations showed sub-zero temperatures at 08:00hrs today 31st January, 13 more stations than yesterday. The lowest temperature recorded at that time was -5.9C in Miranda do Douro in Bragança, lower than yesterday at the same time.

Yesterday the lowest recorded air temperature yesterday was minus -5.4C at Mirandela and -5.8C at Bragança aerodrome, which was colder than the previous day. These are the official recorded figures and in remote areas, especially in the valleys temperatures would have been even lower!

Yesterday a total of 75 IPMA weather stations recorded sub-zero temperatures, compared to 66 the previous day and 69 the day before that.

The colder minimum temperatures are also affecting the south with Aljezur at minus -4.1C and Loulé at minus -1.2C.
