A collision in the early hours of this morning, between a light vehicle and a truck, on the IC1 in São Bartolomeu de Messines, caused the death of a 45-year-old German man.
The alert for the accident was given at 02:40h. The victim was rescued by firefighters and INEM, but due to the serious injuries suffered, death was eventually declared on the spot.
According to news reports the victim was alone in the car. The truck driver was assisted at the scene but was not transported to the hospital.
