A 57 year old Brazilian man was transported to hospital in “very serious condition” on Sunday afternoon after he suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest in the sea.
The victim was found face down in the water when lifeguards and the man's friends dragged him onto the shore.
The alert was given at 4:05 pm by the Portimão Volunteer Firefighters, but the man was “promptly assisted by two doctors who were on site, who started resuscitation until the arrival of emergency teams from the 'SeaWatch' Project and INEM”.
The National Maritime Authority (AMN) explained in a statement that it was only possible to revive the victim after several attempts. He was then transported “off the beach, using the Amarok vehicle, where an ambulance from the Portimão Volunteer Firefighters was waiting”. The man is said to be in a very serious condition.
