Autódromo Internacional do Algarve strives for ISO 20121 certification

AUTÓDROMO INTERNACIONAL DO ALGARVE STRIVES FOR ISO 20121 CERTIFICATIONWith recognition at a global level in terms of good environmental sustainability practices, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve will continue to strive and promote a higher level of sustainability during the upcoming MotoGP world race to be held between the 22nd and March 24th.
For AIA, this will be another step on the path to becoming certified according to the ISO 20121 standard.

"In recent years, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve has followed sustainability practices that are already recognized and known. We are independent in terms of electrical energy, which is obtained entirely from renewable sources and, in addition, as a result of our partnership with Repsol, we use fuel with a high percentage of synthetic compounds. We also have a program for the use of wastewater and rainwater and the collection of oils implemented and now, with this collaboration with a certifying company with proven results in the market, we will be able to have evidence of the results of all this effort. We not only want to be the best and most sustainable GP in the championship, but also continue and further increase our practices in this area.” says Paulo Pinheiro, the CEO of Parkalgar.

To achieve the parameters of excellence, the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve will put a series of environmental measures into practice during the Portuguese GP in March – which will be audited – both inside and outside the circuit, which include the use of solar panels additional costs to supply energy to the Media Centre, mandatory use of electric scooters in the paddock, use of synthetic fuel in support vehicles, donation of unused food, control and reduction of water consumption in the paddock and recycling of used tyres.

As reinforced by the AIA in a statement, with a view to implementing all the necessary measures to obtain ISO 20121 certification, a partnership was established with SIA – Sociedade Inovação Ambiental, one of the few organizations certified to be able to do this in Portugal, and which was responsible also for the Rock in Rio certification process in Lisbon and Rio de Janeiro, having also collaborated in the identical process of the DS Techeetah Formula E team.
