In an operation which took place across the country between August 20, 2023 and February 28 of this year, police detained 113 people and detected 140 crimes related to hunting.
Operation Artémis - the name of the Greek goddess linked to wildlife and hunting, aimed to observe respect for protection and conservation measures for hunting resources, with a view to their sustainable management. Inspection carried out on the exercise of hunting, aim to prevent and detect irregularities inherent to the activity.
During the operation, 19,012 hunters were monitored, 140 crimes were detected and 113 arrests were made, including 59 for hunting in non-hunting lands, for hunting lands conditioned without consent and for hunting areas to which there is no legal access.
Of the 113 arrests, 59 of which relate to hunting non-game species, game species that are not on the list of species that can be hunted, or outside their respective hunting periods.
As part of the operation, 432 administrative offenses were registered, 131 due to the hunter not having mandatory documentation and 77 due to infractions related to the transport of weapons outside the legally stipulated conditions. 45 were also recorded for infractions committed by entities managing hunting areas.
