Vila Real de Santo António opened its new tourist office yesterday, after seven years of not having one, on the 248th anniversary of the municipality being founded.
The new office opened by The Algarve Tourism Region (RTA) and the Municipality of Vila Real de Santo António, fills the gap left by the closure of the Tourism Office in Monte Gordo, in 2017, due to the works of the Polis Program.
Located on Rua Conselheiro Frederico Ramirez, in the heart of the historic center of Vila Real de Santo António, the new office operates under shared management between the RTA and the Municipality, offering comprehensive tourist information, as well as serving as a point of sale for products sites and tourism promotion center for the municipality and the region.
“It is with great satisfaction that we celebrate the inauguration of the Vila Real de Santo António tourist office, marking the municipality's return to the RTA tourist office network, which last year provided close to 400,000 visits at its 20 stations spread across the entire region. It is, therefore, with great enthusiasm that today we inaugurate the 21st service point in the heart of the city's historic center, operating under shared management with the municipality. This expansion of the tourist office network not only improves accessibility to tourist information, but also strengthens local identity and economy”, declared the president of the RTA, André Gomes, yesterday.
Last week, the tourist offices in Armação de Pêra and Aljezur also opened in new locations. With new facilities and better service conditions, the Aljezur tourist office now operates at Espaço +, on Rua da Escola, in Igreja Nova. The office in Armação de Pêra has reopened, located temporarily in Largo da Fortaleza, next to the Ermida de Santo António das Areias, while the refurbishment works of the old Armação de Pêra Casino are taking place.
