The Judiciary Police arrest a man in Loulé over the weekend, suspected of falsifying documents used to register foreign citizens with the Finanças.
In their statement, the PJ say that the crimes occurred between March and December 2022, in the Alentejo region, where the 26 year old detainee "altered documents relating to terms of signature recognition and 'online' registration of lawyers' acts".
According to the police, the documents were allegedly "used in the records of foreign citizens, in the Finance services, to obtain illegitimate benefits".
The detainee was interviewed by the judicial authorities "and a non-detention coercive measure was applied to him".
The PJ continues the investigation with the aim of identifying whether the man has been aiding illegal immigration.
The investigation is led by the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Judicial Court of Beja.
