Yesterday, the Public Security Police (PSP) of Portimão arrested two men, aged 58 and 35, for drug trafficking in Lagos and surrounding areas.
Data collected during the investigation shows that the men were not only selling directly to drug users, but also supplying other drug traffickers.
According to the District Command of the PSP, “these arrests occurred following an investigation that had been going on for around 6 months, and it was possible to determine that the suspects were dedicated to this activity, not only in the city of Lagos, but also in neighbouring municipalities”.
In view of the evidence collected during the 6 month investigation, a police operation was carried out this Monday to arrest the men and carry out home and non-domestic searches.
Several items and objects related to the drug trafficking were seized during the searches, including enough heroin for 21,839 individual doses; 493 individual doses of cocaine; a car and €1,100 in cash; precision scales and other articles and supplies used for drug preparation and packaging.
The PSP said “the evidence collected during the investigation and the police operation indicates that, in addition to selling these products directly to consumers, they also supplied other traffickers in the area, believing that this operation will have a strong impact on reducing situations of drug trafficking in the city of Lagos, maintaining the effort of the Faro PSP Command to prevent and repress this crime”.
The detainees were presented to the judicial authorities for the application of coercive measures, with one being placed in preventive detention and the other subject to weekly presentations.
