Members of the Irish airline Aer Lingus 'Aerclub' mileage program are preparing to come to Faro for free, in August this year.
Nowadays, many airlines have mileage programs, meaning passengers accumulate miles when they take a flight, which they can later use to get discounts on future trips.
However, Aer Lingus is preparing to take more than a hundred passengers to the Algarve, and they will not have to pay anything. The company says that this is an “exclusive flight”.
When you travel with Aer Lingus , you can earn Avios (or miles). You can then buy discounted flights, but the Irish airline has launched an “exclusive flight” between Dublin and Faro where passengers can cover the entire cost of the ticket with their Avios - passengers will not pay anything, they will only use their 15,000 Avios, or air miles, for the round trip. This 'price' includes a 10kg cabin bag and a 20kg bag to take in the hold.
This is the second time that an Aer Lingus aircraft will be reserved exclusively for Avios flights, offering AerClub members a unique opportunity to fly to Faro, and experience the Algarve region.
“Portugal is one of our most popular destinations and, following the success of our previous Avios-Only flights, which sold out in less than three hours, we are thrilled to once again offer this unique experience, allowing members to turn their rewards into unforgettable travel experiences,” said Susanne Carberry, Chief Customer Officer at Aer Lingus, in a statement released by the Irish airline.
Passengers who do not have enough Avios can also travel on this flight, if they do not have enough Avios to cover the entire cost of the flight, they can also purchase their ticket using a combination of Avios and cash.
The “exclusive flight” will mean passengers get to spend a week in the Algarve, leaving Dublin for Faro on August 17th at 4:05 pm, and returning on August 24th at 7:40 pm.
