Retail sales in Portugal continue to fall

shoppingcentreThe volume of retail trade in the eurozone rose slightly in the eurozone during April of this year.

A rise of 0.4% was recorded.

But in Portugal, there was a -0.9% fall in April compared to March. This was one of the greatest drops in the region. Germany, too, experienced the same percentage fall.

This was the third consecutive month of contracting volume of sales of goods.

The picture for Portugal is yet gloomier when compared to sales last year at the same time. Sales were down by -0.4%, with Portugal being the only country out of the whole 18 member nations to register a drop.

Across the eurozone, sales of goods were up by 2.4% in April this year compared to a year ago.

On average, more food, drinks and tobacco were sold (0.4% more) in April along with more car fuel. Non-food products, such as clothing, electrical goods, and computer equipment, suffered a slight fall of -0.1%.

And the portuguese are asking why their economy
Is in ruins, when their own goverment are criminalising
Any portuguese retailers, and forcing them to turn away clients who want to buy portuguese goods or services over a 1000 euros!!!!

Tax evasion and a cash economy is why the Portuguese economy is in a state! Customers pay in cash to avoid paying the IVA, the supplier saves on tax on profits and social security contributions and meanwhile the rest of us have to pay double tax and social to make up for it!
In an attempt to stop the black economy the government have to implement costly procedures such as faturas and guia de transporte for all, roadside checks on deliveries etc etc. It is not the governments fault that we have these imposed regulations - it is those who insist on using cash and thinking that they benefit by saving on paying the IVA whilst not realising that it costs them far more in the long run.

Portugal is nazi police state!
....illegal and a crime in portugal to spend in cash over 1000 euros to pay for any goods or services from portuguese retailers???

Do you really think that´s the problem??? When I buy or order any goods or services for a higher sum (below or over € 1000), I use my credit or debit card? I wonder, why anyone would insist to spend such an amount of money in cash?! The only answer I can find is... money laundering??? - that, indeed, IS illegal. Not only in Portugal.
Something else: Your valuable goods or your money itself might be stolen from your house. Then you´ll yell and scream for the Police, I´m sure!
Think before writing such a comment!

Portugal is nazi police state!
Why is it that no one has written about and informed the public and tourists that the portuguese goverment police state have made it illegal and a crime in portugal to spend in cash over 1000 euros to pay for any goods or services from portuguese retailers???
That is, Unless you give the retailer your portuguese fiscal number, but hey! A person who does not live in portugal, or a tourist or foreigner will not have a portuguses fiscal number, meaning that they are to be
Discriminated against by portuguese goverment, and not allowed to buy any goods or services over 1000 euros cash, or card. And the portuguese are asking why their economy
Is in ruins, when their own goverment are criminalising
Any portuguese retailers, and forcing them to turn away clients who want to buy portuguese goods or services over a 1000 euros!!!!
This is a scandal! There needs to be major media expose on this madness. Portugal is 100% a police stAte!
