The Algarve Local Health Unit (ULS) has initiated a campaign to promote vacancies for the recruitment of doctors in 2025. The campaign seeks to highlight the Algarve as an ideal location to commence and develop a career in the health sector, as well as an attractive region to reside.
To support this initiative, the ULS announced that an exclusive video was produced featuring two young doctors who will be applying for the vacancies offered by ULS Algarve.
“If the vacancies are fully filled, this recruitment drive will enable public hospitals and health centres in the Algarve to staff more doctors, ensuring nearly 100% coverage of family doctors for the population and addressing major constraints in various specialties concerning medical human resources,” stated the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Tiago Botelho.
According to the ULS, these vacancies acknowledge the unique characteristics of the Algarve region, which provides healthcare services not only to its residents but also to the numerous visitors who frequent this tourist destination, located over 300 kilometres from reference hospitals.
In addition to the total number of vacancies (74 for Hospital Health Care, 34 for Primary Health Care, and 5 for Public Health), the competition ensures positive discrimination for the Algarve Local Health Unit by assigning, within the national context of hospitals, 28 vacancies with financial incentives for recruitment in critical specialties such as Angiology and Vascular Surgery, General Surgery, Dermatovenereology, Gastroenterology, Gynecology/Obstetrics, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Intensive Medicine, Internal Medicine, Nephrology, Neurosurgery, Ophthalmology, Medical Oncology, Orthopedics, Otorhinolaryngology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Urology, and Public Health.
