Lagos City Council has approved the launch of a tender for the construction of the Lagos High Resolution Outpatient Unit, a new two-storey building, which will result in the expansion of the Lagos Health Centre.
According to the local authority in a statement, the functional program that was designed by the Ministry of Health will increase the provision of primary health care services and care to users in the municipality, providing for services such as: Day Hospital; External Specialist Consultations; Specialist Examinations and Treatments; Outpatient Surgery; Pediatrics; Integrated Diagnostic Center; Oral Health / Dental Medicine; Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation; and University Health Center.
In addition to the area designated for the provision of healthcare, there will be the usual areas for assistance, waiting, administrative, logistics and technical areas, access and parking.
As part of the transfer of powers to local authorities, the municipality will be responsible for carrying out the work. The management and future operation of this new service will continue to be the responsibility of the Ministry of Health.
The intervention represents an investment of 10 million euros (€10,475,000.00), with around half of this amount being co-financed by the PRR, but the municipality has used its own funds to be able to move forward with the opening of the tender, in the expectation of being reimbursed at a later date.
