A crane from a private construction site fell onto the Hortas de Santo António Basic School No. 2, in Loulé on Monday, luckily with no casualties reported.
The crane fell onto the building housing the preschool, in which the classes ended for the Summer holidays on the previous Friday for the 155 children attending that school.
The director explained that at the time of the incident, there were only three employees at the school and the coordinator, but they were far from the building that was hit.
Loulé City Council is currently processing all legal procedures with the company responsible for the project, with a view to securing insurance to repair the building.
