The city of Faro will once again light up its streets for the festive season from 21 November to 6 January 2026, with its traditional Christmas decorations, an investment worth €184,000, the local council announced today.
The LED lighting, designed for low energy consumption, will be switched on daily from 5:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., Faro City Council said in a written statement sent to press.
The daily operating period of seven and a half hours will help save energy, in line with measures taken in recent years, the council added.
According to the municipality, this year’s budget of €149,600 , plus 23% VAT, bringing the total to €184,008, represents a 2.1% increase compared with last year’s expenditure of €146,500 (plus VAT).
The Christmas decorations will adorn the city’s main streets and shopping areas, enhancing the festive spirit and boosting the appeal of Faro’s historic centre, the statement noted.
In addition to the lighting, the municipality will continue to promote local businesses through seasonal initiatives and the traditional Christmas tree, further enriching the festive atmosphere in the heart of the Algarve capital.
