Real-estate developers Antrix and Carvoeiro Branco have acquired a second former cork factory in Silves, the Bento Augusto Monteiro Factory, with the aim of converting it into a housing development.
“This new investment follows the work begun with the purchase of the iconic Fábrica do Inglês and forms part of a broader urban-renewal strategy focused on restoring properties of significant historical and symbolic value to the region,” the developers said in a press release.
The specific project for this site is currently undergoing technical assessment and will be presented at a later stage.
The companies underline their intention to maintain a careful approach that respects the site’s history as they develop the residential housing project.
“We believe Silves plays an essential role in the Algarve’s history and future. Investing in heritage is also an investment in identity, purpose and legacy,” said Erik de Vlieger, CEO of ANTRIX and Carvoeiro Branco.
