Three men, aged 19, 21, and 32, have been arrested on suspicion of raping a 13-year-old girl in the early hours of 4th March in Portimão, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said on Wednesday, 18th March.
According to the PJ, the girl and three other minors left a social care institution in Portimão without authorization and later met the suspects in a city park, where they allegedly consumed hashish and alcohol. The victim was left “intoxicated and not in full possession of her faculties”.
Police said that, in that condition, the teenager was carried by one of the suspects to a bedroom in a nearby property, “where significant sexual acts were carried out by the three men, in turn”.
The force added that, despite the girl’s refusal after partially regaining her faculties, “the assailants continued, aware that she was a 13-year-old child”.
“An investigation was launched by the PJ on the same day as the incident, following a complaint by the institution’s legal representative. Substantial evidence was subsequently gathered, strongly indicating the reported crime and identifying those responsible, culminating in the arrest of the three suspects,” the statement said.
The men are due to appear before a judge for an initial hearing, at which remand measures will be determined.
