easyJet has reopened its Faro base for the summer season with a new Newcastle route, launched on 29th March, as part of a plan to fill 1.7 million seats over this year’s peak season.
The budget airline’s summer operation will include 18 routes connecting the Algarve to destinations in France, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Switzerland, reinforcing the region’s connectivity during the peak tourism period, whilst expanding options for the British market.
According to the airline, the Faro base, inaugurated in 2021, has become a central pillar of easyJet’s strategy in Portugal, supporting both tourism growth in the Faro district, and thus the local economy, which is largely driven by the industry.
Since 1999, easyJet has carried more than 26 million passengers to and from Faro, consolidating its long-standing presence in the region.
Across Portugal, the airline plans to operate seven million seats this summer, covering 93 routes to 14 countries, including new connections from Lisbon, Porto and Funchal.
In Faro, easyJet will base four aircraft throughout the summer season, in addition to other aircraft operating year-round.
