From this Thursday, May 7th, buses operating its domestic and international routes to and from Albufeira will have the city's bus terminal as their new and only stop.
Located on Rua Paul Harris, the municipal infrastructure replaces the previous stop used by the transport operator, located on Avenida da Liberdade, in the center of Albufeira.
The operator's entry into the terminal will represent a significant improvement in the conditions offered to passengers, also contributing to the expansion of long-distance public transport options for both residents and visitors.
After six years operating in one of the most important tourist destinations in the Rio Grande do Sul region, FlixBus has now gained access to the main bus departure and arrival point in the municipality, an achievement that represents a significant improvement in the conditions offered to passengers. At the same time, the operator's entry into the Albufeira bus terminal brings with it a greater opportunity for growth in its activity in the municipality (and throughout the Algarve region), a scenario that will contribute not only to offering all the inhabitants of the municipality more options for long-distance public transport, but also to boosting the growth in the number of national and international visitors, consequently generating a positive economic impact for the region.
Tiago Cavaco Alves, Operations Director of FlixBus in Portugal, highlights that "the proactive role of the new municipal executive proved crucial in unlocking access to the terminal". According to the official, “there was a clear recognition of the public interest in opening access to the terminal, owned by the Albufeira Municipal Council, as a way to strengthen road connections from Albufeira to other parts of the country, to guarantee comfort and safety for all passengers, as well as to ensure equal access and use among operators.”
With this change, FlixBus buses operating domestic routes will now stop at platforms 4 and 5 of the Albufeira bus terminal. Some international routes will, for the time being, have a stop outside the terminal, located on Rua Paul Harris, near the entrance to the bus terminal roundabout.
All passengers with scheduled trips to and from Albufeira from May 7th onwards have already been duly notified about this change of stop.
