Having typed in 'Portugal' or other key words such as 'Algarve,' accommodation then was the most searched for item, followed by travel information, tourist entertainment, catering and culture, according to Bloom.
The specialist agency is working to promote the country and city as brands and is developing annual Internet rankings as part of its work for the Tourist Board which successfully has switched its promotional spending from above-the-line advertising to electronic media.
“When it comes to online searching for ‘Portugal,’ what distinguishes us is tourism," commented Filip Roquette, boss of Bloom Portugal.
