Harry and Meghan share Alentejo holiday snaps, as Sussexes summer at their Portuguese villa in MelidesThe Duchess of Sussex has shared a series of photographs from the family's summer holiday in Portugal’s Alentejo region on Thursday, 23 July, offering a rare glimpse into the couple's private life, including images of Prince Harry and their children, Archie and Lilibet.

“Summer holiday,” Meghan wrote alongside images capturing a number of moments from the family's stay along the Alentejo coast, with photographs showing them enjoying beaches, natural landscapes, and local shops and businesses across the region.

The photographs are believed to have been taken before the family travelled to the UK, where Harry, Meghan, Archie and Lilibet reportedly reunited with King Charles III and Queen Camilla. The meeting marked the King's first opportunity to see his two youngest grandchildren since 2022.

The Sussexes are also said to have purchased a property in nearby Melides in 2023, within the exclusive Costa Terra Golf & Ocean Club development. The luxury estate has attracted a number of high-profile owners and residents, including actress Sharon Stone and Princess Eugenie, Harry's cousin, who is known to spend time on Portugal's Alentejo coast and previously lived on the estate.

Several of the images show the family enjoying the beach, which is typically quiet in the area surrounding Melides' luxury developments, where public access exists but is relatively limited. The Costa Terra estate overlooks Praia da Galé-Fontaínhas, a beach that has featured in Forbes magazine's list of Europe's most beautiful beaches.

One photograph, however, appears to pinpoint the family's whereabouts more precisely. It shows the frontage of O Melidense, a traditional restaurant that was recommended in a 2016 Financial Times travel guide curated by fashion designer Christian Louboutin and has also been highlighted by Condé Nast Traveller. The restaurant is known for its simple, traditional Portuguese food, with a steak served with chips, rice and a fried egg costing €11.90.
