Police question four Maddie suspects

praiadaluzatnightIn response to official requests from the British authorities, Portugal’s Judicial Police today took the step of questioning four of the dozen people identified by Scotland Yard detectives as ‘persons of interest.’

The men, all Portuguese, are being questioned as part of Operation Grange, the wide-ranging enquiry into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann.

South Wales Police today confirmed that two of its specialist search dogs and their handlers are back in Portugal and at short notice could be put to work as a result of any information from the interviews.

Madeleine McCann disappeared on May 3, 2007 from an apartment at a tourist resort in Praia da Luz as her parents had dinner nearby.

So - Portugal, the country now named publicly, and obviously known for years via Interpol, as the Gateway into and out of Europe for the trafficking of minors.

1600 known cases a year, each year, many more presumably under the radar. Clearly one of the main drivers all along for the UK insisting on serious detective work in searching for missing Madeline McCann. Not tolerating the usual standard that 1599 other cases that year had ….

It is also obvious that, in this Alice in Wonderland fantasy of Portuguese Police investigations, that 'Judicial Secrecy' is meaningless.

Yet the Portuguese TV presenters can gabble for at least 5 minutes - giving us much detail about the current McCann search. And conveniently do this whilst filming the UK Police leaving the PJ station and passing the film crews in the street !!!
