Two PSP (Public Security Police) officers were struck by a vehicle in the early hours of this morning, 21 September, in Portimão by a drunk driver who fled the scene while being given a ticket.
The incident occurred at 12:30 AM on Avenida Miguel Bombarda during a traffic enforcement operation, according to a source from the Public Security Police (PSP).
After being cited for drunk driving and notified of the suspension of his driving privileges, the individual fled the scene and struck two officers; they sustained minor injuries for which they were taken to the hospital for treatment.
One officer suffered injuries to his left leg and abrasions on both knees, elbows, and his right shoulder, while the other sustained injuries to his left foot and abrasions on his elbows and left shoulder; both have since been discharged.
As of this afternoon the driver has not yet been caught.
