British Airways flight to Faro forced to turn back to London after reported window fracture

British Airways flight to Faro forced to turn back to London after reported window fractureA British Airways flight from London Gatwick to Faro was forced to turn back this Tuesday morning, 13 October, after damage was reported to one of the aircraft’s windows.

Flight BA2660 took off at 9.06am and, within the hour, while over France, began heading back to Gatwick, according to flight-tracking app Flightradar24.

British media reports say the pilots spotted “structural damage to a window panel on the right-hand side of the aircraft”. Aviation reports place the problem near row 3R and suggest the crew declared an emergency. They also say cabin pressure was maintained.

The aircraft, an Airbus A321-231 operated by BA EuroFlyer, was due to land in Faro at 11.50am. It returned safely to Gatwick, with no incidents reported on landing. Emergency crews were reportedly on standby as a precaution.

British Airways has not officially confirmed that window damage caused the return. The aircraft is expected to be inspected before it goes back into service.
