Forum Algarve cinemas close

gregorypeckThe nine screen SBC cinema at Forum Algarve in Faro closed today. Customers were advised by a note posted at the entrance to the cinema complex.

The Algarve capital now has no purpose-built cinema.

"We regret the closure of the cinema SBC Forum Algarve," reads the brief statement placed at the entrance to the multi-screen cinema which opened in 2002.

The nine movie theaters were operated by British company Spean Bridge Cinemas (SBC) in space owned by Forum Algarve.

Last year saw Castelo Lopes closed its cinemas in Guia Shopping and in Portimão. These later reopened under the management of Cineplace, owned by the Orient Group which has been running cinemas in Brazil for over 20 years and in Angola for six years.

Sul Informaçao contacted the Forum Algarve management and was told, "This is just a temporary closure, it will not be definitive. The cinemas will reopen soon with better conditions and greater comfort for all customers."
