The Algarve’s Borders and Foreigners Service have been checking up on owners and crew of boats moored in havens across the Algarve region.
The SEF management announced that its men inspected 50 boats and checked the documents of 80 foreigners.
The Maritime Police were helping out as the SEF inspectors homed in on vessels anchored between Faro and Olhão and in the Arade river at Portimão.
The SEF said that of the grand total of six foreign nationals illegally present, three were told to leave the country forthwith and the other three were asked kindly to get their visas renewed. The remaining 74 questioned has documents that were quite in order.
Vilamoura Marina was not exempt and vessels at anchor were boarded and ID demanded of crews on board.
