Police in the Algarve today announced that officers have arrested a 55-year old Dutchman suspected of running an international prostitution service from a villa in Boliquieme, Algarve.
The police said that the man was wanted by the French police for crimes relating to prostitution in several European cities, money laundering and conspiracy. An International Arrest Warrant had been issued by the French judiciary and was acted on by the local Portguese force.
During the arrest, the police seized €8,500 and £11,000 in cash, a Range Rover, a Land Rover, three computers, four mobile phones and various items of jewelery.
Police wasted no time in accessing the suspect’s bank accounts where they found €200,000.
The man has been running a website for clients in London, Paris and Amsterdam, and arranging girls for them from England, France and Romania while taking a commission of half of the €500 per hour fees charged.
The man will be processed at the Évora Court of Appeal and will either be locked up pending trial, or most likely handed over to les flics for some light interrogation followed by a court appearance and a suitably period of penal servitude, if found guilty.
