Santa and his reindeer to land in Loulé this Saturday

REINDEERA must for those with children or with a sentimental streak, everyone will be able to see live reindeer in Loulé this Saturday, roped in to provide some Christmas cheer to a city fast emerging from recession.

Santa will be in the driving seat of course and subject to his arriving on time from the North Pole will start his sleigh drive at 2.30pm in an event marking the start of the town’s Christmas festivities under the banner, ‘Traditional Trade this Christmas.’

Santa, with full beard of course, will lead a parade from the Eng. Duarte Pacheco Monument and will process around town in the company of the Motoclube de Loulé, Motoclube Rodas do Relógio, Clube de BTT Terras de Loulé, Clube Hípico de Loulé and the ever popular Majoretes of Loulé.

On arrival at the Praça da Republica, Santa will greet children, hand them gifts and pose for photos made more fun with two reindeer in the background.

The choir will sing, the drums will be played and everyone is expected to be in fine Christmas moods thanks to the council and ACRAL, the heavily indebted local trade organisation, which have organised the reindeers' passports and Santa’s short-term work permit.

On December 6th, Father Christmas will be in Quarteira’s Praça do Mar and the day afterward in Almancil’s Jardim das Comunidades.

These fun events aim to promote traditional trade, to attract shoppers to their local town centres and spread some long lost Christmas Ho Ho Ho!
