5 Brits stabbed - Portuguese D.J. held by police

Partytime stabbingsA Portuguese Disc Jockey is being held by Spanish police in Majorca for allegedly stabbing five Britons at a partytime resort.

The incidents occurred in Calvia on Saturday. The suspect is alleged to have stabbed a man with a knife and was then chased by a group of four whom he also attacked causing serious injuries.

The Portuguese man was remanded in custody while authorities try to determine exactly what happened. Four of the injured men are in serious conditions and continue to receive medical care in two hospitals in Majorca.

The six men involved work in two areas of the leisure area of Punta Ballena. According to several reports there already had been two confrontations in Magaluf, an area visited by tourists, mostly young Britons. It is suspected that the Portuguese national thought that the British man was involved in a fight with his brother. At the time many of those involved were masked as it was 'Halloween.'

The Portuguese man attacked the first Briton at the bar where he worked, and where his brother has been assaulted, stabbing the Briton several times. The attacker fled and was chased by a group of four Brits who also received knife wounds in a fracas in the street before police arrived.
