A Christmas Eve shift at the Hotel Vila Galé Cerro Alagoa in Albufeira ended in terror as armed robbers burst into to the reception area and threatened the receptionist with their pistols.
The two men wearing stocking masks broke into the hotel right in the centre of Albufeira intent on stealing the money in the hotel safe.
During the robbery the receptionist was threatened with a gun and forced to open the safe and hand over the money.
The hotel is in Albufeira’s main Avenida about 100 meters from Albufeira’s court where hopefully the robbers will be appearing before too long.
The men got in around the back of the hotel after scaling walls and breaking a window.
Once inside the premises, the men headed to the reception area where they threatened the receptionist with a gun and forced him to open the safe which contained around €600 in cash.
Albufeira GNR quickly was at the scene and the investigation later was handed over to the Judicial Police who spent the afternoon at the hotel collecting and evaluating clues left by the robbers, including images of the whole event captured on the hotel’s internal CCTV system.
