Portugal is under a nationwide yellow warning due to the increasingly cold weather which will hit particular lows on Monday and Tuesday.
Portugal’s weather service issued the warning this weekend due to ‘continuing low temperatures’ especially between midnight on Sunday night and 18.00 on Tuesday.
There are no warnings for Madeira and the Azores but temperatures are predicted to drop three to eight degrees from Monday across the mainland.
Until the 4th of January Portugal’s interior region will have lows of between zero and 4 degrees and the central coastal region between 3 and 6 degrees.
In fact nine districts will have below zero minimums. In Oporto, the thermometers will drop to below zero and Lisbon is already heading for a sub zero spell.
From Monday until the end of the week the Algarve will be between 1-5 degrees at night and 15-18 degrees maximum daytime temperature, warming slightly next weekend.
