Portugal's millionaires keep getting richer, as the poor get poorer

Millionaires get richerThe total wealth of the 870 millionaires in Portugal has increased by €7.5 billion, despite the economic crisis plaguing the country.

A report by Swiss bank UBS concludes that there are 85 more stonkingly rich people in Portugal, defined as those having assets of €22.4 million or more, than in 2012 .

According to the report on the Ultra-rich of the World for 2013, this increase means that 870 millionaires Portuguese have a joint wealth of €75 billion, representing an increase of 11.1 % compared to 2012.

 Portugal is number 12 in Europe where the number of rich has risen by over 10%, outpaced only by Germany (13%), Romania (12%) , Greece and Serbia, both with a rise of 11.1%.

Concerning the increase in assets, Portugal is surpassed by Hungary, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Austria, Greece and Romania.

From 2012 to 2013 only Finland and the Ukraine had a reduction in the number of millionaires.

The country with the most millionaires in Europe is Germany with 17,820, followed by the UK with 10,910 and Switzerland with 6,330.
