Well known local biker, the 'Comandante', has been killed in a hit an run incident near Faro.
The GNR already has identified the black Audi A6 which yesterday was hit by the biker as the car performed an illegal U-turn and speed away from the scene of the accident, leaving fatally injured Vítor Silvestre to die at the roadside in Chelote near Faro.
Two witnesses were able to describe the vehicle to the GNR who traced the owner to an address in the Loulé area.
Using video records from a nearby garage the police were able to replay the accident and revealed also that the car has been recorded speeding north into the Alentejo region.
The victim, a well known motorcyclist and member of the Faro based Motards, lived in Montenegro.
The Audi was chased for a while by drivers who had witnessed the accident but they lost the speeding car in the area around Patacão near Faro.
The emergency services were called to the scene and tried resuscitation but the Comandante was declared dead at the scene.
