A Silves GNR patrol managed eventually to halt two men fleeing the scene of the burglary in a stolen car.
The men, aged 26 and 31, have been charged with pinching the get-away car and of theft from commercial property in Silves.
The GNR control reported today that officers were alerted at 03:40 as a burglary was being carried out at a commercial establishment in Silves. When they arrived at the scene they saw a high powered car being driven off at speed.
The driver paid no attention to their order to stop and got as far as the village of Falacho where finally the car was pulled over.
The arresting officers found a large TV in the boot and other stolen items including watches.
On checking the vehicle registration they found that it had been stolen some hours earlier from the western Algarve.
