JJW Hotels & Resorts, owned by Sheikh Mohamed Bin Issa Al Jaber, has revealed a plan to completely refurbish the much loved Dona Filipa Hotel in Vale de Lobo with the aim of "maintaining the position of the hotel as one of the best luxury properties on the market ."
To Mohsen Al Jaber , Director of Innovation at JJW, "this is the right time to invest in the future of the property and ensure that it will continue to offer the highest standards of comfort and elegance that our guests deserve."
"We have been strong supporters of the Algarve for over 25 years and, following the recent announcement that the Penina Hotel would be under JJW Hotels and Resorts ownership and management, this significant new investment in the region underscores how important it is for the group’s plans in the Algarve," he added.
The renovation will focus on the entrance area, lounge and bar and all of the rooms. The work is divided into three phases during the off season so there is no need for the hotel to close.
Luís Filipe, managing director of the hotel, said, "we are very pleased and excited with the renovation plans."
The work will be supervised by the designers Cunningham Mclean in association with ArtCatto.
JJW recently announced that Le Meridien Penina, which it owns, and which was under the management of Starwood, will be managed in house.
Another hotel group, BlueBay, has announced the incorporation of three new four-star hotels in the Algarve. Tavira was chosen for the opening of BlueBay Porta Nova, to compliment the BlueBay Paraíso de Albufeira hotel and also in Albufeira, the Balaia BlueBay.
