Infraestruturas de Portugal - €150,000 for new logo

epInfraestruturas de Portugal, the new company formed by the merger of Estradas de Portugal and rail company Refer, is spending €150,000 on a new logo.

The new branding will be chosen from designs submitted by 'in house creative team members.'

The logo design challenge was laid down in September 2014, "We found that the new logo had to be created from within the company by homegrown talent," said the head of the merged group, António Ramalho, who added that “budgetary constraints also had some weight.”

There appeared to be few budgetary constraints applied to the recent merger party which cost the state owned entity around €170,000 for an evening of entertainment, food and drink at the taxpayers’ expense (see link below).

A logo team was created with members from both companies, which 'included seven creative staff.'

In total, eight proposals have been delivered and a colour has been decided on, jade green as it is “natural, ecological and a green that conveys some of the values we want for the concept of travel."

The rebranding will be completed in late summer 2016, over a year after the companies merged.

As for the overall merger process, which is involving 12 working groups, António Ramalho said that "it is 64% completed" and later this month “it will be 70% completed.”
