Cost of property up in most of the EU

germanyHouse prices across European Union countries rose by 2.5% and in the eurozone by 0.9% in the first three months of this year compared with the same period in 2014.

The data, from Eurostat, shows that for Portugal the rise for January to March 2015 was 0.8% higher than the same time in 2014.

House prices in the final nine months of 2014 were consistently better than those for the same period in 2013.

The highest annual increases were registered in Ireland (17%), Sweden (11.5%), Hungary (10%) and the UK (8.5%).

The largest annual declines in prices were in Latvia (-6%), Italy (-3.3%), and France (-1.6%).
