Construction work in Portugal has plummeted yet again.
A drop of 1.8% was recorded in the April to June quarter of this year when compared to the first quarter. The annual fall was 1%.
In no country was resumption of building work very strong. In fact, there was an annual slip of 2.3% on average. Civil engineering took the greater hit over building construction across the EU countries.
Building projects declined by 6.8% in France and 4% in Germany.
Although there has been some increase since March 2013, the lowest point since the start of the Great Recession, progress has been very slow.
In Portugal the last six months have been characterised by declines every month compared to an already slack 2014 with the one exception of March this year when building works charged ahead by 2.5%.
The data, provided by Eurostat, includes both building works and civil engineering projects.
