Pump prices drop at long last

petrolpumpIn a long overdue and delayed reflection of the huge drop in the international oil price, the cost of petrol and diesel at Portugal’s pumps falls today by 5 and 3 cents a litre.

This is the biggest adjustment of the year in the price of petrol and the seventh consecutive week in which costs has crept lower, according to the Directorate General for Energy and Geology.

Supermarket cheapo petrol drop an average of two cents for diesel and four cents for petrol.

The reference price for a litre of petrol in Portugal is now €1.458 and for diesel is €1.185.

Prices vary depending on the petrol station and its location with already cheap supermarket prices dropping less than at big name brands such as Galp and Repsol.

Bringing relief to Portugal’s famers and fishing fleet, should ship captains decide to leave harbour despite the sardine ban, fishing and agricultural diesel is down three cents per liter to €0.47 and €0.67 respectively.
