Zoomarine dinosaur exhibition destroyed by fire

dinosaurFire has destroyed the new dinosaur exhibition area at Zoomarine near Guia, Albufeira as 30 replicas went up in flames.

The fire broke out on Thursday 10th September at a time when 3,000 people were in the park but none in the Dinosaur exhibition area which was closed to the public at the time.

According to Diogo Rojão from the Zoomarine communications office, nobody was injured but the area was cordoned off as firefighters fought the flames and billowing, acrid smoke.

António Coelho, head of the Albufeira bombeiros said the fire broke out at 11:46 and was put out by his men by 12:29 with help from firemen from Silves and Lagoa.

The cause of the fire still is not known and an investigation has been started into its cause.

The interactive Era 'animatronic' dinosaur experience was opened last year and contained 30 life-size model dinosaurs packed full of electronics to make them move.

The Zoomarine dinosaur exhibition was completely destroyed.
