The Jerónimo Martins Group today announced plans to open 30 more Pingo Doce supermarkets in Portugal by 2016.
The announcement was made today as part of an explanation to investors of the overall business plan for the next three years.
The company also is to invest heavily in Poland where it is to expand its Biedronka brand with 800 store openings in part of an overall €2.2 billion over the next three years.
The group's sales should grow between 12% and 15% between 2014 and 2016
Pedro Soares dos Santos, the current managing director of the company is to be proposed as chairman of the board of directors at the next annual general meeting convened for 18 December. If successful he will replace his father Alexandre Soares dos Santos the current chairman who announced his resignation in September after 45 years of building the company into one of Portugal’s household names.
